Kentucky Pharmacy is thrilled to celebrate a remarkable milestone as our dedicated CEO and pharmacist, Vy Truong, receives recognition as a “Rising Star/Next Gen” honoree at the 2025 Louisville Business First Family Business Awards.
Vy Truong’s journey is truly inspiring. As a first-generation entrepreneur, she built Kentucky Pharmacy, an independently owned and state-licensed healthcare provider, from the ground up. Her decision to establish a local, patient-focused pharmacy came at a challenging time when many national pharmacy chains faced closures due to economic constraints. Yet, through determination, passion, and a deep commitment to personalized healthcare, Vy defied the odds.
Born into a family of entrepreneurs who operated multiple flower shops in Saigon, Vietnam, Vy inherited a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Immigrating to the United States with limited English proficiency, she pursued rigorous studies in pharmacy, graduated from pharmacy school in Boston, and earned her professional licensure across several states, including Kentucky. Her professional path included leadership roles at Walgreens and CVS, where she witnessed firsthand the disparities and limitations of corporate healthcare models.
Motivated to provide solutions focused on community health and affordability, Vy founded Kentucky Pharmacy. Her innovative model addresses vital community needs:
- Free Prescription Delivery: Eliminating transportation and financial barriers.
- Direct Pharmacist Communication: Offering multilingual, personalized care directly through text messaging.
- Affordable Healthcare: Actively negotiating with suppliers to ensure competitive prescription pricing.
- Mobile Immunization Services: Extending critical healthcare directly to patients’ homes.
- Family-Driven Service: Integrating her father and extended family members into the daily operations, creating a genuine “family serving family” environment.
In less than two years, Vy successfully scaled Kentucky Pharmacy to serve hundreds of patients, particularly impacting underserved communities. Her strategic partnerships with community organizations for immunization services, effective collaboration with drug suppliers, and dedication to quality service have earned her pharmacy a consistent 5-star patient satisfaction rating.
Vy Truong’s leadership transcends conventional business achievements. She has not only strengthened her family’s involvement but has actively prepared Kentucky Pharmacy for generational growth. Her extended family plays critical roles in daily operations, and even her three young sons engage with customers, learning valuable lessons in service and community commitment.
Through Vy’s visionary leadership, Kentucky Pharmacy exemplifies what a family-operated business can achieve: compassionate care, personalized attention, and unwavering dedication to community health.
We proudly congratulate Vy Truong—an entrepreneur, advocate, mother, mentor, and true pioneer—on this well-deserved recognition. Her resilience, innovative approach, and profound commitment to community service embody the true spirit of family-owned business excellence.
Congratulations, Vy Truong, on your outstanding achievement! You inspire us all to continue serving our community with care, compassion, and excellence.
